Gotham Knights is an entirely new Batman Game featuring the extended Bat-family. It doesn't take place in the Arkham Universe. This is just like a regular comic book universe where Batman and Commissioner Gordon are dead. now it is up to this ragtag team to move on and mourn Bruce Wayne, solve some of his unsolved crimes and clean up the city.
The Positives Point of Gotham Knights:
1. The best selling point of these games is playing as these characters. You know, conceptually it's cool to play as Red Hood and shoot some dudes. It's cool to choke out guys with your legs as Barbara. Also, it's cool to play as Robin and react on screen with one another.
2. It starts strong, but it gets old pretty fast. A lot of the game is structured around open-world grinding. You level up your characters by doing activities out in the city on patrol and accessing some pretty good simple skill steps to add new abilities.
3. The bigger random open-world crimes, like bank robberies take a couple more minutes to do but net you more rewards. Now, these are actually kind of impressive. It is really cool to like hear an explosion. This is also a negative point at some times as this game wants you to do this over and over again.
Compared with Batman Arkham:
The Gotham Knight is fun but if you compare it to Arkham games it is just another comic book representation of Gotham. But it is a good one with distinct neighborhoods, cool graffiti advertisements, and just real genuine attention, to detail and a good layer of grime to it. It is not like a hyper-gothic city or super dark or anything, it may be cool but honestly, it is empty and lifeless.
There are hidden fun nuggets or Batman Easter eggs, references, and cool stuff like some really deep DC comics and some silly Batman jokes. A lot of iconic locations are there and there is just some joy to be had
The Problems with Gotham Knights:
I have seen up to this point Gotham Knights appeared to have all the making of the ambitious action-packed smash hit. But there is some point that makes this game quite slow-boring and I want you to know this point properly before buying this game.
1. Underwhelming Combat: If you wanna like bounce around between them, you have to spend a huge amount of time as Barbara Gordon, and then you want to check out Robin. And then you have to go through a huge chunk of the game. As this boring who could barely get around the city and had no cool moves.
2. Week Story: Just like Bruce Wayne Gotham Knights was born to a well-respected and Rich family in this case the four third-person action games in the Arkham series that's not to say that is a sequel. When you're stealthily gripping from ledge to ledge crawling through ventilation shafts and beating up groups of criminals in a rhythmic combat system it's impossible not to compare it to the vastly superior Arkham Games
3. Over Simplified Main Theme: The main gameplay is pretty slow and simplified. This game does not have the ability to like glide in an open-world Batman game for a while pretty painful. The problem is that it wouldn't feel like a grind if the combat and the stealth were more fun. After playing through everything unfortunately it only gets more tedious as you go.
4. Annoying Dodge: Doing Combat is also isn't fun. It has too many enemy types of attacks that are just annoying, and that's like a petty complaint. Once you've ground through some of the open-world staff. Much quicker than other games of this style. So there is light, and ranged attacks as the base. With dodge mechanic that feels really unsatisfying.
5. Stealth Killing: Stealth also leaves a lot to be desired and it is incredibly simple. The game was clearly built as like co-op or multiplayer open-world first type thing. With the stealth kind of being limited. Enemies are super exploitable. The number of times I choked out a dude while another guy was just staring right at me and didn't get alerted was shocking. There are not a lot of options for distracting enemies.
6. Playing as Different Character: One Key difference is that here you get to play as your choice of the four primarily loveable Heroes Night wing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin. But no matter who you play as you'll still zip around an open world Gotham delivering justice to all manner of superstitious cowards and unraveling a troubling mystery in the iconic cities' murky streets. That mystery revolves around the death of none other than Batman Himself which serves as a solid kicking-off point for a new generation of crime fighters to take the spotlight in the wake of the Dark Knights' demise. Bruce Wayne's ragtag gang of current and former Sidekicks step into the Fray to fill his formidable shoes and serves as a strong premise to what ultimately turns out to be a lackluster story full of foreseeable twists and unsurprised turns.
Overall the game just felt a little too finicky. just kind of a waste of a good meter burn. There are moments of brilliance, taking down a whole crowd flawlessly where everything connects right. All the animations are awesome, especially Night wings. The bottom line, the most important thing for me with a game is the fun factor. You can do fun combos in this game.
